# Quickstart

> Connect a coding agent to the public docs-search MCP, confirm the connection works, and troubleshoot a failed setup.

This guide connects your coding agent to the public docs-search MCP. It lets your agent search this documentation. It does not connect your agent to any Metatron runtime.

## Prerequisites

* A coding agent that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP. The [client guides](/clients/claude-code) list verified options.
* The published URL of this documentation site: `https://docs.metatronscribe.com`. The commands below use it directly.

<Warning>
  Use the exact live domain shown above. Do not substitute a placeholder or a stale URL.
</Warning>

## 1. Find the server URL

Your docs-search MCP lives at the `/mcp` path of your site. For the live site, that is:

```text theme={null}
https://docs.metatronscribe.com/mcp
```

Confirm that `https://docs.metatronscribe.com/llms.txt` returns the documentation index before continuing.

## 2. Register the server

Use the registration form for your client. For Claude Code:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http metatron-docs https://docs.metatronscribe.com/mcp
```

Other clients use different commands and files. See the matching guide under **Coding agent setup**.

## 3. Verify the connection

In a new session of your client, ask it to list the tools available from the `metatron-docs` server. You should see a search tool for the documentation. Then ask a question that this site answers, such as "What are the three Metatron interfaces?"

A correct answer names the local MCP, the public docs-search MCP, and the future authenticated remote service.

## 4. Remove it

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp remove metatron-docs
```

Removing the entry is the only step needed. The docs-search server holds no session for your client.

## Local Metatron users

If you already run a local Metatron MCP, do not change its registration to add this one. Register the docs-search server under a separate name, and confirm both entries remain. Local Metatron tools are not described on this public site.
